Avery suddenly conjures a pink carnation and holds it out to Pepper. Pepper is shocked, and she takes the flower, gently, into her hands.
Pepper: …Thank you.
Pepper and Charlie walk into the stacks, and Pepper is totally absorbed in the carnation.
Charlie: What’s going on with you two?
Pepper: Nothing! We just like each other. Like I like you.
Charlie: Doesn’t feel like that to me.
Pepper: I didn’t ask your opinion. Come on, let’s move.
Charlie crosses her arms and rolls her eyes. The two girls go their separate ways, heading deeper into the library.
