Charlie tries to run past Hyacinth, but he whips an arm down and stops her from getting past him.
Hyacinth, smiling: Aurelie says you can read lips. If you can do THAT, can’t you speak?
Charlie looks extremely nervous and upset.
Hyacinth: You’re not deaf AND dumb, are you? You won’t ever get a husband if you keep acting like you’re SIMPLE. Besides, it’s RUDE.
He gets annoyed with her lack of response, and grabs her by the arm.
Hyacinth: Come on, I’m taking you to class.
Charlie is distressed. She struggles against Hyacinth, trying to wrench her arm from his grasp. Finally, she starts to cry.
Charlie, speaking out loud: STOP!
Both her spoken text and her speech bubbles are hand-drawn.
I knew I hated this man for a reason!!
the obliviousness of a man who never really had to think of anyone except himself
